Artefacts of Excavation

There were two cemeteries excavated during this season: cemetery a and cemetery b. Although the Egypt Exploration Fund (and similar organizations) had other seasons at other sites with a 'cemetery a' and 'cemetery b' the marking from el-Amra was very distinctive, using small caps 'a' and 'b'. The stem of the 'b' often use as a score through it.

This pottery vessel now in the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology is from tomb 227 in cemetery b.
