British Museum

Predynastic black-topped pottery vessel excavated at Mostagedda in 1929, UCL (UC25785).

The British Museum, like many museums, sponsored the work of organizations such as the Egyptian Exploration Fund (EEF) and by these means received a share of excavated objects. Between 1928 and 1931 the Museum sponsored excavations directly at Matmar and Mostagedda and distributed the finds.
