Reginald St. Alban Heathcote
British pharmacologist; he was born in West Deeping, Lincs., 17 June 1888, son of Revd. Gilbert Vyvyan H. and Mary Henrietta Perceval; he was educated at Winchester,1902-7 and New College, Oxford, 1907-11; BA, 1911; MA, 1914; he then trained at University College Hospital; BM BCh, 1914; he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps and Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in World War I; he then joined the Dept. of Pharmacology at Oxford; DM, 1920; BSc, 1922; he became Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Cairo. 1922-33 and then lecturer and professor at the Welsh National School of Medicine, Cardiff; MRCP, 1932; FRCP,1937; Comm, Order of the Nile, 1933; while in Egypt, he joined Griffith on his expeditions to Philae and Kawa; his photographic collection of 2,500 negatives is in the Griffith Institute, Oxford; he died in London, 19 May 1951.
