Site description: 

Petrie visited the site when he was excavating at the nearby site of Naukratis and the objects which he gave the British Museum from the site were likely purchases attributed to the site. Petrie notes that two sphinxes were removed earlier from the site by a pasha.

The site was the subject of excavations and geophysical survey by the British Museum from 2003-2010.
