The Museum was closed in 1994 and the collections dispersed in 2001 with Egyptian material being sent to University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Amongst the 839 Egyptian objects listed as being from the Commercial Museum on the online database [as of August 2016], 209 are said to be from el-Sheikh Ibada, 32 from Balabish, 31 from el-Amarna, 6 from Ihnasya, and 2 from Naukratis. Many of these are likely to be from the Egypt Exploration Fund/ Society.
