At the time of these distributions (1920s/1930s) the Director of the Museum of Henry G. Lyons, who had a strong association with Egypt and Egypt Exploration Society. He was posted to Cairo in the 1890s by the Royal Engineers. He cleared temples at Buhen and led the 1907 Survey of Nubia.
