Artefacts of Excavation

The village of Batsford seems to be too small to have a public library or school that would be appropriate. Likewise, the Batsford Arboretum was not yet in existence and it was unlikely that Petrie would have given objects to either the Mitford family or to Gilbert Willis, the tobacco heir. It most likely refers to Batsford publishing house, which was established in 1843.
