The excavations were sponsored by the Graeco-Roman branch and thus were concerned with recovering papyri from the Graeco-Roman period rather than objects or material from different time periods.

The excavations focused on the cemeteries but most had been looted in antiquity and the active cemetery seems to be only filled with dynastic burials.  

• Two 3rd dynasty burials had alabaster, limestone and ceramic vessels.
• a stele of a local offical named Beba was found in the wall of a rock-cut chamber.
• New Kingdom burials contained scarabs and amulets.
• Ptolemaic burials with some papyrus recovered.
