The excavations were sponsored by the Graeco-Roman branch and thus were concerned with recovering papyri from the Graeco-Roman period rather than objects or material from different time periods.
The excavations focused on the cemeteries but most had been looted in antiquity and the active cemetery seems to be only filled with dynastic burials.
A ceramic vessel from the 3rd dynasty burial was retained by the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
