This site was surveyed as part of a larger survey of the area from el-Bersheh to Arab el-Hatem (105 km).
The survey centred on the hills to the northeast, east, and southeast of the site of el-Amarna into which tombs had been cut for courtiers and royals. It also notes the limestone and alabaster quarries near to the city.
