Getrude Caton-Thompson, who had earlier in the 1920s excavated at several sites in the Badari region of Egypt for the British School of Archaeology in Egypt (BSAE), undertook pioneering fieldwork in the Egyptian Fayum region between 1927–1928 funded by the Royal Anthropological Institute. The distribution of finds from this season was listed in the excavation monograph.
