The excavations were sponsored by the Graeco-Roman branch and thus were concerned with recovering papyri from the Graeco-Roman period rather than objects or material from different time periods.
The excavators note that the cartonnage recovered from the late Ptolemaic cemetery was damaged. They note excavating some small alabaster vases, ceramics and other small objects. The earlier section of the cemetery was closer to the town and the graves had already been disturbed.
