1900-01 Yakuta (Faiyum)

Sponsor:
Egypt Exploration Fund (EFF): Graeco Roman Branch [1]
Type of fieldwork:
Excavation
Director:
Bernard P. Grenfell [2]
Arthur S. Hunt [3]
Season summary:

The excavations were sponsored by the Graeco-Roman branch and thus were concerned with recovering papyri from the Graeco-Roman period rather than objects or material from different time periods.

Excavations began in early February and ended on February 14. The site had originally been examined by Georges Daressy in 1898. The excavators note they found some papyri and  some Greek inscriptions.  A marble head that the excavators identified as Alexander was also recovered.
