British artist; she was born in London, 6 May 1880, daughter of Charles Newberry and his wife Elisabeth Mary; she married Guy Brunton and studied with her husband at University College London; she painted water colour illustrations of Egyptian works of art through his influence, using objects such as those found in Tutankhamun’s tomb; she made a series of illustrations for two popular books with chapters written by various authors, Kings and queens of ancient Egypt, 1926, and Great ones of ancient Egypt, 1929; she also drew many of the plates illustrating objects discovered by her husband in his reports of excavations; some of her watercolours are in the Griffith Institute; she died in Clocolan, Orange Free State, South Africa, 29 Jan. 1959.
