British architect and illustrator; he was born in Broken Hill, New South Wales, 7 Aug. 1907, son of Henry Lavers, later of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, and his wife Lillian E.; he studied at Architectural Association Schools, Sept. 1924-July 1929; he became an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Sept. 1930; he worked on the Amarna excavation under Pendlebury, 1931-37; he also took part in excavations in Crete and at Alalakh under Woolley; he designed the torch holder for London Olympics, 1948; he illustrated a mural for the Science Museum in London; he illustrated several books, notably Nefertiti Lived Here, by Mary Chubb, 1954; he died at Hastings, 8 March 1969.
