Notes on distribution:

Of the 242 Egyptian items in the collection, 139 are recorded as coming from excavations directed by Petrie. The museum's donor file records a "purchase" from the British School of Archaeology in Egypt, made in 1919. Subsequently, 118 items from his excavations in Rifeh, Memphis,  Gizeh and Tarkhan (excavated in 1906-7, 1908-13, 1910-11 and 1912-13 respectively) were sent. See Trumpour and Schultz (2008).
