Institutional history: 

An Egyptology student at UCL post-WWI, he excavated at Qau el-Kebir in 1923, and again on the 1923-24 season. He also led the excavations at Karanis for the University of Michigan 1924-26. He then took part in Petrie excavations in the 1920s in Palestine. Bexhill notes that they received objects from him.
