Munich, Orient

May refer to:
Munich, Oriental Studies Department, University of Munich
Country:
Germany [1]
Destination category:
Unknown
Notes on distribution:

Listed on the document PMA. WFP1.D.18.16.1 as "E orient". On other documents notably the distribution grid, PMA.WFP1.D.18.5.1 "E"= to Munich. Petrie at this time often used a capital letter in the distribution to refer to a group of objects on a seperate list or he used a capital letter as shorthand for a place, see document PMA.WFP1.D.18.4 as an example. Perhaps greater clarity can be given to where objects went in Munich, with the ammendment orient, which suggests this indicates the university. However, with Friedrich Wilhelm von Bissing as Professor, this may also indicate that these objects were intended for him either as part of his personal collection or as part of a teaching collection.
