Bacchis (Faiyum)

Site description: 

The town of Bacchis was founded in the Ptolemaic Period but overlays an earlier prehistoric settlement as suggested by the material culture. The settlement was constructed from mud-brick and was an agricultural administrative centre before being abandoned in the 4 th century CE. The objects recovered include domestic goods, furniture, and papyri.
