The excavations were sponsored by the Graeco-Roman branch and thus were concerned with recovering cartonnage from the Graeco-Roman period rather than objects or material from different time periods.
Excavation took place from March 4-March 15. A Ptolemaic cemetery in the northern section of the site was explored. The excavator noted the graves were mostly shallow shaft graves with a chamber blocked by a mud-brick wall. It was usual to find pots next to or built into this wall.
