Mullingar, St Finian's College

Current name(s) of destination(s):
University College Dublin, Classical Museum?
Country:
Destination category:
Institution
Institutional history:

St. Finian's College is a Catholic secondary school established in 1802.

Notes on distribution:

In 2007, some of the school's classical collection was loaned to UCD, having been in storage since 1986. It is not clear at present if some Egyptian objects may still be present at the school, since there are only a few objects with uncertain provenance at UCD from St Finian's that may come from Egypt.

The objects included that may be Egyptian include :

  • 4. Terracotta Scallop-shaped oil lamp
  • 11. Bronze bowl, said to come from Egypt?
  • 12. Bronze mirror head

With thanks to Emmet Jackson for the update [January 2023].
